Leased Lines UK has a multi-layer national
network based on optical fibre and microwave with CISCO BPX and IGX
carrier class switches.
This follows a complete migration from the original Microwave based
ATM ring. This presents a network designed to be:
- Scalable, providing the ability to increase capacity where it
is needed as well as extending geographical reach.
- Resilient, with a highly meshed architecture so that inter-site
link failures are not noticed by customers.
- Reliable, utilising carrier class equipment and redundancy to
maintain service.
- The core network uses proven ATM and Frame Relay technologies
upon which IP services can be carried.
- Leased Lines UK operates the network to provide Virtual Private
Networking (VPN) for its customers as well as providing connectivity
to the Internet.
Leased Lines UK occupies three locations in London Docklands. The
heart of the network is Telehouse, which provides our connection to
other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) either via the London Internet
Exchange (LINX) or through other partner Internet transit providers.
The national network has core IP switching centres in four locations.
Each of these locations has a choice of targeting one of the three
London sites for access to the Internet. Consequently in the unlikely
event of a problem in one or even two of the London sites, connectivity
to the Internet will be maintained. An independently provisioned fibre
ring affords IP layer resilience between the three London sites.
International Network Infrastructure
Leased Lines UK provides enhanced connectivity, hosting and private
network services within Europe. The network connects into the U.S.
via two high capacity transatlantic 622Mbps links and extends into
continental Europe with peering points in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and
Paris.
The company provides customers with extensive International connectivity
through its partners Tier 1 status and multiple peering points in
Europe and the USA. To ensure maximum resilience, Leased Lines UK's
London core routing centres connect into the US via two separately
provisioned resilient transatlantic links.
As a major player in the UK market for network and datacentre capacity,
Leased Lines Ltd is well placed to source additional capacity at competitive
prices when and where its clients require it.
Currently, Leased Lines Ltd partners controls over 2.4Gbps of aggregate
network capacity in the UK. This comprises a 155Mbps network backbone
with direct connections to one of the most extensive networks of points
of presence serving the vast majority of major UK cities and towns.
The group operates national data centres in London and Amsterdam.
The 11,000 sq foot London data centre is located at Harbour Exchange
and at the hub of national and international data traffic over IP-based
networks. Each national data centre operates with full UPS and diesel
fuel back-up generators, multiple power supplies and telco lines,
fire suppression systems and secure locked down computer rooms.
Leased Lines Ltd can set you up from scratch or upgrade your existing
